JYJ The Beginning Special Limited Edition

The Beginning is JYJ’s the first studio album since they left TVXQ. The album’s lyrics are entirely in English, while Jaejoong, Yoochun and Junsu each wrote music for one out of the eight songs on the album.

This luxury edition was released some two weeks after the normal CD version, on the 18th of October 2010, and is called The Beginning, JYJ The First Album, Special Edition.

I ordered my copy from DVDHeaven (called Ktown4u now). The weight of the whole package was around 1,5 kg (3,3 lb) and I paid $19,78 for the discounted album, although the normal price is closer to $43 dollars at the time of writing.

The special edition of The Beginning comes in a black box embellished with red and silver JYJ logo, and with a poster and a t-shirt on the side.

The t-shirt that comes with the album seems to come only in one size, and I was lucky enough that it fits me perfectly. You can see below in the photo the approximate size in centimeters at the shoulder (12,5 cm = 5 in). It’s completely white, except for the print on the chest, 100% cotton and made in Korea. The metal ruler is not included in the package :) but I added it for size comparison. I also included photos of the stitches so you can judge the shirt’s quality.

Poster, in my case, came folded. It’s made of glossy paper and its dimensions are 90cm x 62cm (35,5in x 24,5in).

The aproximate size of the JYJ The Beginning special edition box are 24 cm  x 24 cm x 4,5 cm (9,5 in x 9,5 in x 1,8 in). Aside from the CD with 11 songs (8 same as the normal version and three extra ones, remixes by DJ Eon), this special edition also contains a photobook and photocards.

The white photobook contains photographs from The Beginning photoshoot as well as all the lyrics in English.

To see the inside of the photobook please watch the included video unboxing above.

This special limited edition has been printed in only 99,999 copies. To prove that your copy is one of the kind and genuine a card printed with a unique number is attached at the back flap of the photobook.

Tips for storing the album

The box is very tight around the photobook and photo cards. When you slide your finger to pull them out it’s really easy to damage the sensitive paper. Quick fix for this is to put a paper or cloth ribbon on the bottom and when you want to take them out just pull the ends of the ribbon, instead of digging in with your fingers.

Other version of this same album were

  • digital download; released October 14, 2010
